The basis of STC Footwear is that of technology being used and developed for footwear to enhance the comfort and safety of the end user. We strive to use the correct technology in the right place to ensure the end user has the safest most comfortable footwear possible. We are footwear manufacturers and developers first with a keen understanding of what it takes to bring these things together in the right place.Examples of these are;
STC identified a number of years ago that direct attaching soles by means of a polyurethane direct injection system optimizes sole attachment to footwear uppers and allows for tremendous shock attenuation from the low density hi memory polyurethane foam midsole. This system allows for either lightweight mono density polyurethane soles or a polyurethane midsole bonded to a rubber outsole. We utilize this technology on many of our styles.
We also use a more traditional way of attaching soles by way of Goodyear welt soling. This technology is utilized for military/uniform footwear as well as firefighting boots. It allows for a more hand crafted type of boot that tends to take on a more custom fit as it will self mold to the end users foot over time. It also allows for recrafting over time and resoling.
In 2008 STC determined the need to develop hi grade vulcanized rubber footwear for several end use specific requirements. We reached an agreement with the best vulcanized footwear manufacturer in the world – Tiger Rubber. STC has an exclusive agreement with Tiger for the North American industrial rubber footwear market. This allowed us to work with Tiger professionals to develop some very special footwear. The use of this vulcanized technology is critical to developing the best rubber mining boots, forestry boots and extreme cold weather footwear. The process of vulcanizing rubber is superior to polyurethane and injected thermal plastic boots as vulcanized rubber is far more heat and cold resistant than other materials . The vulcanizing process also allows for enhanced heel counter integration that gives heel and ankle support not found in polyurethane and thermal plastic boots. The Tiger Rubber Company has a long history of winter tire manufacturing and technical rubber manufacturing for the aircraft industry. This technical rubber understanding is evident in the footwear products we have developed with Tiger. Again best technology in the right place.
