STC recommends that you spend a little bit of effort to care for you boots to ensure a longer life. It is advisable to routinely wipe off or wash off with a damp cloth and or a brush any foreign matter that you boots come in contact with. This could be something as simple as the dirt from a jobsite to the cement or manure you stepped in over the course of the day. The latter will shorten the lifespan of your footwear if not dealt with routinely. The leather STC uses on its footwear is very good quality waterproof breathable leather that is best treated with a hi grade silicone to maintain its properties. Please bear in mind that on lighter colored leathers they may become darker with the treatment of silicone.
It is recommended also that a routine visual inspection be done to ensure the soles are in good order. If the tread is worn down it is probably a good idea to look into replacing your boots. Likewise if the toe cap is showing through the leather or the seams are split open you should consider replacing your footwear. This will help ensure your safety on the job.
